Day 3

We woke up at 8:00 am on the Sunday and we left the house to go out for breakfast. We found a nice patisserie in the town square and sat outside for our breakfast.

After our breakfast we returned back to our apartment where we packed our bags for leaving that evening. We then left the apartment and put our bags in the car. From there we took a nice walk through Dunkirk Town to the Operation Dynamo Museum.

We entered the museum which had an entrance fee but was worth it as inside there was many artefacts and models of vehicles weaponry and more dotted around accompanied by lots of information about the evacuation. Overall we enjoyed the museum and learnt a lot of new information and built upon our already acquired knowledge. We then left the museum had our lunch we prepared earlier that morning and walked back to the car to drive to the Commonwealth Memorial Gravesite.

At this site we were able to pay our respects to the brave young men that served not just our country but the world in both world wars. There were many graves here that were very well kept from not just the UK but also from ex-British imperial colonies such as there was a man from Egypt buried here and a few men from the Caribbean. It was a very eye opening experience to go here as it really put into perspective the amount of people killed in these conflicts.

After paying our respects we then began the journey home leaving Dunkirk. We grabbed a quick bite to eat for dinner on the way to Calais and then went through passport control to get on the Euro tunnel. We then arrived back into the UK after a 45 minute journey across the channel and arrived safely home at around 8:00pm.

This is the end of day 3.
